Pros

The people I have worked with throughout my time here have been great. I’ve always had awesome coworkers and employees. The bonuses are a plus, when we get them. Sustainability and energy management are a huge plus which is why most people start working here. More work-from-home opportunities, though it caused a pandemic to make that happen. It was impressive to see how quickly the company responded to the issue, and they did work hard to ensure employees were safe.

Cons

Engie has known they don’t pay people enough, even back to when they were Ecova. Everyone is sick of hearing the same tired line that they’re “looking into it.” Compression continues to increase, and the company continues to pay exceptionally low for jobs that it seems entry-level. While data entry and the mail room are understandably on the lower end, there are still expectations of these team members that make it more difficult to be in these roles than a standard DE or mailroom role somewhere else. The other operations jobs definitely require a lot more skill and knowledge, yet those jobs are barely offered above minimum wage in a lot of cases. There are no competitive wages here which is why they lose employees to fast food places, Amazon, and anywhere else offering $15/hour. Advancement is also dependent more k on n managements unattainable standards (because it’s different depending on who’s looking at you) and gut feelings rather than actual skill. They expect people to have trained and shadowed in a job they may be interested in or deem them unworthy of promotion and claiming lack of these things means lack of actual interest. People are encouraged to apply for things, but are told if they apply for more than one role they’re not promotable because they’re clearly just looking for more money instead of an actual career. There are also people in positions of authority here that shouldn’t be, and it’s widely known yet nothing is done about it. These people are often allowed to promote or move elsewhere rather than coached or dealt with unlike employees in the lower ranks who are simply told to shape up or ship out.
