Pros

Awesome place to showcase your skills, you will be allowed to voice your opinion. If you see a problem or an area of improvement and have a solution, most time management will give you the go ahead to execute. Dont just come with a problem, suggest a solution as well. Dell has a competitive workforce Managment respects employees. Understands work life balance and considers personal situations and time-offs

Cons

Promotions and pay raises are hard to come. A very high attrition rate and it seems there is no mechanism for employee retention. Most coworkers across different segment are demotivated and looking to move. Employee feedback does get too far. But your comments and suggestions are definately patronized. Poor communications between departments, regions and management. Lately, there have been quite a few impulsive expensive decesions by upper managements. Seriously lacks process standardization, every region has evolved in isolation and what works in North America may not work in Euope

Pros

The benefits are pretty good (4 weeks vacation after 7 years). Insurance is all right (I know other companies pay more of it). 401k is matched 5% and vested from day one.

Cons

There seems to be ever-increasing workloads, while compensation is ever-decreasing. As positions are cut in sales, we have to take on more accounts. As positions are cut elsewhere, it becomes harder for us to take care of the customer. We will lose customers over degraded customer support.

Pros

I get a pay check every two weeks.

Cons

Never knowing when you are going to be fired. It hurts the entire companies moral since it all seems so random. Some of the other down sides in working for Dell vary from day to day. Sometimes it's the fact that they are cutting jobs only to turn around and rehire in the same position. In most cases its for less pay which means you are working for people that are grossly under qualified and it some cases these folks are making decisions that impact peoples livelihood. So my job is hinged on someone that was willing to take the least amount of compensation for the role. Not very comforting.
