Pros

Still a few talented people left in the VMWare, Pivotal and EMC divisions, despite the legacy Dell presence.

Cons

A PC company executive and senior leadership thinks it can be tech leaders in virtualization, high end storage and cloud native. All flashy show in the internal and external marketing. No substance behind the show. Willing to mis-lead employees about commitment to their growth and well-being. Legacy Dell culture and management will be an albatross around the necks of the company divisions that can innovate and grow. Company is steered by private equity interests, not technical innovation principles.

Pros

Nothing specific to EMC (and then Dell EMC) stands out as positive.

Cons

Overall, the environment was poor with periodic dips into toxic. People were treated poorly by management, micromanaged and bullied. There was not any feelings of safety. Upper management was standard dysfunctional. At first glance, positive and seemingly well-intentioned. At time progressed, dictatorial and disconnected from engineering. The behaviours of talent management were similar to those of an abusive partner. The violence was social and emotional, and the violence was focused on employees.

Pros

the people I work with.

Cons

I have been out of work for almost one year do to having cancer. The short term disability through Cigna is almost nonexistent. Cigna will put you through what ever they can do to give you wrong information. Then when long term happens you will be required to pay your benefits from you Social Security check of $1700 per month. The Dell EMC will not send the billing address or the cost so you can pay the benefits. They will tell you if you do not get the payment in by the first of the month, you have a grace period. However, during the grace period they will not pay any of the claims that come in. It is costing me 2700 dollars a day. Selling my house to pay bill.
