Pros

Salary is decent and you get generous bonuses starting on your fourth month. Most people are nice and good to work with on an individual basis.

Cons

Culture is super top-down. Transparency and accountability are mostly absent, which means toxic managers are never questioned. Teams work hard but not smart: many are stunningly short of technical expertise and work structure. Most employees have only ever worked at Decathlon and are fully blind to industry trends and best practices. Your odds at succeeding in the organisation are more reliant on how much you join into the culture and how submissive you are rather than the quality of your work. Many people just want to protect the position they’ve earned over time: good ideas are never pushed forward due to inconsistent appraisal and erratic management. Standard management practices such as budget control, scope definition, burn rate reporting, etc. are non-existent. The expectation is to trust managers blindly without having visibility over any of the decision making.
