Pros

Fully remote work was a pro

Cons

Couldn’t use the continuing education allowance for business program so it went to waste, micromanaging leadership, no scope to grow and get promoted even after multiple conversations with leadership. The job was advertised with more scope than my previous role but was a step back career wise. The company really takes on the disadvantages of both a corporate and startup environment with none of the advantages. It’s also a huge Salesforce club so if you didn’t come from Salesforce, it can be really challenging to be included.

Pros

-Cool product -High achieving colleagues/peers -Company has a bright future -Slightly above market to above market pay, depending on the team -Very high level of internal transparency -Good office perks like free lunch -Most employees are offered Equity -Some teams are great

Cons

-Terrible WLB. Databricks is completely unafraid to work their employees on all teams into the ground. All parts of the organization report horrible WLB in company-wide surveys. -“New managers” who can’t manage -Significant office politics on some teams -Gossip. Not all employees safeguard job-specific information from individuals on other teams. -Equity. Be extremely careful to understand what you’re actually getting and when at the time of negotiating your Databricks offer. You may be getting far less value than you thought you were. -Lack of diversity in many parts of the company -No 401(k) match
