A lot of talk without walking the walk

The company is growing like crazy.

Cons

Party lines give cover to poor, sometimes sketchy practices. Management touts innovation, hiding behind the image of cutting-edge technology while embracing politics, towing the line even when unethical. Cool technology only goes so far when you realize the people responsible for our continued growth are overly invested in broken practices. It may be worth it to ride the rest of this immediate wave but there are regular patterns of behavior that point to Databricks being a poor long-term time investment.

Welcome to the “rocketship”. Great people, free lunch

Cons

Managers and leadership are not incentivized to promote. Extremely difficult, convoluted, and not transparent performance cycles. You are fully in charge of your own growth and will not be encouraged to develop. Few learning opportunities when everything is urgent and a fire drill. Many managers should not be people managers.

Excellent technology, founding executive team is wicked smart, many opportunities to grow (if you can find the time..)

Cons

Most first and 2nd line sales leaders are micromanagers who ask for internal reports in multiple formats. The CRM just isn't good enough so here are 18 spreadsheets to complete...oh BTW they need to be done by tomorrow AM. Those spreadsheets contain what's in the freaking CRM. You're constantly pitching to justify your existence so you have little time to do your actual job of helping customers succeed. They are manifesting failure...
