Pros

Most employees are very good to work with. Many knowledgable people to help bring insight to projects.

Cons

Senior leadership is part of the good 'ol boys and do not have degrees. Other management being hired takes up the slack. Very hard to get a promotion many position are open but management just run through the motions and then take the person they want not the best qualified. Communication is horrible!!!

Pros

Good pay and benefits. Uniforms are nice to have.

Cons

I was offered a very good job from Cummins late last year. I left my current job in order to accept it. On my last day of orientation Tim Solso spoke with our group. The economy and job stability was addressed. Tim stated that we would always be given a chance to perform before anyone would be laid off. 2.5 months later, which was mostly filled with training, I was laid off. My manager even told me it had nothing to do with performance since I was not there long enough. I guess I should have been more careful given the economy, but I didn't think that Cummins would dump money into me (relocation, training, etc.) just to lay me off a couple months later. It was really a lose-lose situation for both parties involved.

Pros

It pays the bills. For now. The Company has a strong name. I believe in the USA, employees are well considered.

Cons

A lot of frustration due to complexity for doing anything. IT has too many stakeholders for taking any actions that we are too slow to react. Paid in Sterling but having living expenses indexed on the Euro makes a salary reduction of 50 %, The orderboard wants to increase , but decisison are made to deliver them at teh end of year , which contains more and more uncertainities. This likely to to end in non orders or cancellations if we wait too long. People were feeling left aside in Kent before the situation turned down. Employee moral was low. The difficulty in this situation is tah company shall also focus on how well they will end the curve. When economy will kick in again , companies that woould have managed more carefully will be able to ramp up quicker than others and will take marketshare... If they have the right people.
