Good benefits and life balance, poor leadership

Pros

The company offers good benefits and it provides good opportunities to develop your career, allowing vertical and horizontal career transitions. Flexible workload allows you a good life balance.

Cons

Lack of transparency from some managers towards their subordinates. Higher leadership works in slow motion and have an old school mindset, incapable to move up in innovation to provide a hedge against competitors and to grow in new market segments (renewable energy, clean fuels...)

Pros

Shocking company, terrible management. I applied for a role with the scorsbey office and went for an interview and was told they would call me back 2-3 fays later, no call no feed back nothing. 2 weeks later still no call no nothing, still advertising every week for the job. Very rude its not hard to say yes ir no. Stay away.

Cons

As above. Shocking

Mediocre Fortune 500 Company

Pros

International Fortune 500 company [ie, large]. A lot of internal move opportunities to different areas of the world. If you're interested in playing office politics, you'll do well. DFSS is the bible. Depending on your division/manager, can be VERY flexible on work/life balance. (Cummins Engine Business Unit is NOT the same as Cummins Filtration is not the same as Turbo Technologies etc. Completely different cultures.) Concerned about health and well-being of employees. Community involvement is fantastic.

Cons

International Fortune 500 company [ie, large]. Practically zero accountability. Substantial amount of 'fat' could be trimmed to really make the organization work better. Additionally, processes are atrocious, which also creates inefficiencies. DFSS is the bible; ex. even though the outcome of a project is completely counter-intuitive / doesn't work for the functional group it supports (typically because that group's voice isn't heard), projects are approved. Salary is NOT competitive, no matter what HR/leadership says and they use "salary grades" as smoke and mirrors. If you do your job well and meet/exceed expectations, unless you're spending time on their internal "career connections" website looking for the next position, you will not move throughout the company. Concerned about health and well-being of employees as long as it doesn't cost money. EXTREMELY conservative.
