Pros

Market leader in its field, Fortune 500 company, opportunity for growth, reasonably good compensation and benefits. I have been here for more than a decade and am thankful for the career I've had. I've had some great mentors who have given me opportunities. They have supported my education, allowed me to move between locations for career growth and let me get time off for personal reasons.

Cons

Comes with the bureaucracy of a large company and one needs to be able to handle it. Middle management moves in and out of positions too fast. They don't stay long enough to implement initiatives.

Pros

lots of opportunities if you are willing to go after them, strong sense of community, you are surrounded by lots of really smart people, work life balance is supported if you approach it with organization and open communication with your manager

Cons

Can be difficult living in Columbus, IN for younger employees or employees not married or who do not have children. Some people get hung up on salaries here since Cummins tends to pay at just at the mean versus our competitive benchmarks. The trade off though is that you can still work hard and have a life working at Cummins.

Pros

Opportunity, the company is growing at a rapid rate...almost too fast. The stock and bonuses have been consistantly paying out better than expected. They like to promote from within the company, so if you apply yourself, you can advance in the company. The stock split twice in one year.

Cons

Moving from a midsized company to a large one has growing pains. They pay below average on wages, therefore it is hard to find top talent. Everyone seems to be overworked and the hiring process can take months to find a suitable candidate. Turnover can be high in some departments, due to mismanagement.
