Pros

Two things - people and potential. The people who work at Cummins are some of the greatest folks that you'll ever meet. They (highly) value their personal time - including time with their family and friends - and they treat work as important but not THE most important thing in their lives. The potential for this company is huge - not only from a financial growth perspective but also from a process improvement perspective. When given the opportunity and management buy-in to improve something, the results are awe-inspiring.

Cons

IT is backwards. Much of the work is outsourced to vendors who can't code, can't speak English, and have no understanding of the fundamentals of end to end programming. In addition, there is an internal shared services group for infrastructure which cares more about how to eak money out of the business then in actually delivering and sustaining systems. Personnel doesn't have their act together either. There's a lack of coordination for bringing on new people. It's like once they are hired, people forget that they need the basics to do their job. Six sigma is something that many folks are supposed to do but in many cases, it's not true to what the discipline is. While there are ways to improve things through a six sigma process, not everything fits into that structure yet, if it is labeled potentially cost saving, it will be shoved into that structure.

Pros

corporate social responsibility, really smart people, true commitment to community. they have been voted #1 for most ethical company in the US, but you won't hear a lot about it because it's against their philosophy to make their community commitments a business case or opportunity for public relations and marketing. very rarely will you see a company that is this genuinely committed to making a difference in the world, their employees are great and team oriented and every one is very proud to be working there. the only critique is that as a manufacturing company the structure can be very regimented

Cons

i think this is a a really dumb way to make people write reviews and says to the lack of integrity of this particular website. i think the people who do the design for this survey should think very seriously about how they map out consumer behavior trends, writing a hundred words per entry is way to burden to be putting on to you casual internet surfer. you need to team up your engineers with some marketing and usability geniuses because i am appalled by the idiocy who thought coersion for information would be a long lasting business strategy for this company.
