Pros

I like working for Cummins, its a very people friendly environment and allows people to have a good work-life balance. My manager is very understanding and pleasure to work with. They are very flexible in allowing time-off. There is also ample opportunity to move around in different departments, especially for people like us in Columbus.

Cons

Locations are in small towns and remote places, so employees don't have exposure to big cities and cross corporate culture. Secondly some people do not have enough work to do because work is largely outsourced to contractors. Some IT people may feel that atmosphere is too laid back as compared to typical IT culture.

Pros

The people are very good about sharing knowledge. When there are issues, people don't waste time pointing fingers, and instead, try to solve the problem. Employees are given freedom to explore roles in all areas of the company. In fact, it's encouraged. The people work hard, but there is a nice work life balance in the company.

Cons

Cummins locations are all in small sleepy towns with not a whole lot happening. Of course, a lot of people like that, but it might be problematic for people used to bigger cities. There is a culture of six sigma which is fine, but it's over the top sometimes. There are also disparities between business units on how and when promotions are given.
