Perfect for Individuals that are "worker bees"

Pros

offering flexible hours, OK benefits, and OK pay, You will be presented with plenty of opportunities for projects to take ownership of. Community service opportunities.

Cons

Any projects you take ownership of brings larger expectations, without the pay compensation. Constantly laying off people, yet workforce is over worked. Moral improvements are done by replacing the people, not fixing the issues. It is always the Employees fault. You can go from a star worker to the bottom of your managers **** list in a blink of an eye. If your an individual that believes what you do at work makes up who you are, this company is not for you.

Pros

- Great values - Community involvement, help the world etc. - Very helpful people, willing to mentor and coach - CEO and other leaders try to reach out to the masses very frequently - Big emphasis on diversity and different opinions

Cons

- Slow paced - Not a great business to be in - Sometimes riding coat-tails matters more than actual hard work

Pros

I actually have not been at the company since 2005, however, Glassdoor would not let me select this year. They also insisted I write a review, which I am glad to contribute. Cummins is a decent large company to work for and at the company headquarters you can move to different areas. I was able to learn quite a bit while there working as an engineer.

Cons

The variety of supervisors is quite broad. Some are super and others are just a step above terrible. Some are glad to allow you to move around and develop your talent, while others absolutely refuse. The biggest problem is the big sense of fear that pervades the atmosphere since Cummins likes to downsize some every year, and downsizes quite a bit in some years. Even if you are a top performer, you do not know when someone is going to decide that you need to go. I know many people who were let go after 10+ years simply because the wrong person decided they didn't like them.
