Pros

The job I interviewed for was Great! Able to work in a new industry/vertical market Exposure to a new culture (India) International experience

Cons

I am an American Citizen. At Cognizant, I was a third-class citizen. The job I performed was not the one I interviewed for. Less that a year after I arrived, all my managers left. The managers who took their places did not communicate. While they responded to my questions, I did not receive any substantive information. There was no way to figure out where I fit in their organization or how I might succeed. More than once I was "set up to fail."

Pros

Used to be an amazing company to work for with outstanding culture (pre cognizant). If you like massive corporations and heavy, long winded processes and no admin rights to your own laptop this is the company for you. Good volunteering services through Cognizant. They do some good work and great projects. The people are wonderful, you might even make friends for life. Moving to a new Cognizant office in Liverpool St which looks nice but will axe what's left of the culture. Seem to want to actually have a more diverse culture are doing something about it.

Cons

Hilariously a company who advises on employee experience has shocking employee experience. High turnover. No salary review for 24 months. No bonus. Seriously low salaries with low rewards. Lot's of complex employee performance reviews and then only 5% of the company get a salary review. Awful onboarding, you know its bad when the entire HR team leave. Zero recognition for employees who've worked a long service. Senior employees on less than juniors. If you do manage to get a pay rise/promotion you'll wait a year and half. Resulting in imposter syndrome when you finally do leave the company - when you get out take some time off to detox from the awful culture so you're not scarred at your new job. Leadership obsessed with hierarchy and faffing around with company structure. Axed summer and Christmas party. No budget for anything. You'll be paying for your own expenses with no hopes of getting them approved.

Cognizant Response

Thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback about working at Zone. We’re glad to read that you enjoyed working with Zone’s great people, clients and on progressive project work. We’re sorry to read the ‘cons’ to working here that you’ve listed. We understand there have been some frustrations with some of our processes whilst we have been integrating with Cognizant’s policies and ways of working; however, are proud to have navigated through Zone’s acquisition to Cognizant and the Covid pandemic over the past 5 years, adapting to remote, and more recently, hybrid working, whilst maintaining a strong and inclusive culture, and retaining many fantastic and dedicated colleagues along the way. Whilst some of our policies and ways of working have changed in the past five years since joining Cognizant, we have strived to keep employees engaged, reward new and existing employees fairly, and provide full transparency around our 24-month promotion cycle. We’ve worked hard with our Employee Experience team to assess our onboarding process, and are working to create a great onboarding experience for new employees. We have also re-introduced our Summer and festive celebrations, which were temporarily halted due to the Covid pandemic. We wish you the best of luck with your new role and thank you for helping us make the best Zone possible, through providing valued feedback.

Pros

Nice Building PTO Some talented, highly skilled, experienced technical employees Team members willing to help when needed Cafe in building is decent

Cons

If you are not from India, promotions and job security is unlikely. Bonus cut by more than 50% from last year, even though we were the Number 1 business unit company-wide. Pay is below average for most roles Slowly cutting onshore staff and replacing with lower paid, less experienced, lower skilled workers. Trizetto was acquired by Cognizant 3 years ago. Since that time, teams have been decimated onshore and many jobs have moved offshore. Many decent people placed on the bench last year and replaced with offshore resources or offshore employees being brought over to replace onshore resources. Teams are not fully staffed leading to delays when responding to customer needs. CIS cares only about bringing over less experienced and skilled workers on visa programs. Promotions are about if you are from India. Experience, skills, not taken into consideration. During a recent "Townhall Meeting", SR. Management bragged about the diversity in the organization on one slide, then one the next slide showed the "new management" structure. This was dominated by 16 Indian males, 3 white males, and one Indian female. Promotions are yearly. They have no problem giving you more responsibility without actually promoting for several months, sometimes up to a year, then pulling your promotion when the time comes. HR is a joke in Englewood. Known throughout the building as spineless and worthless. Make a legitimate complaint or question anything that was done and be prepared to suffer the consequences, most likely benching. There are some very good managers in middle management roles who try to be fair but are forced to make bad decisions by SR Management. PTO is "unlimited" but depending on the customer you are working on, you can expect 60-80 hours a week and less than 1 week off. Recognition and awards are dominated by offshore or onshore Indian employees. Published lists of awards are sent out quarterly, with 90% being offshore or Indian. Favoritism is also rampant. Indian Managers look out for Indian employees, especially those they know and favor. They have little to no respect for onshore employees and have no problem making that clear. Overall, if you want a fair, balanced company that truly cares about employees this is not the place to work.
