Pros

Employee discount is very generous

Cons

All of the managers are robots and they expect the sales staff to be the same. The micro-management of employees is unbelievable. No matter how much experience you have had in a successful retail career with respect to sales, they want you to do it only the "Coach" way, which is like the Stepford Wives (look it up). The managers constantly follow you around the store. After you have interacted with a customer, they pepper you with questions, such as "Did you suggest a wallet?"..."What about a keyring?"..."Why aren't they buying anything?"... It's truly a nightmare. You may think it is prestigious to work at Coach, but if you enjoy being treated like an automaton, then work here. Most people like being treated as individuals. There is no room for individuality or creativity at this company. Also, they schedule you to do floor sets at unrealistic times, such as working until midnight the day before Thanksgiving... giving you no time whatsoever to prepare your dinner and home for a family visit on the holiday the next day. In addition, the managers do not permit you to take breaks despite the break periods being clearly outlined in the employee manual. If you are passionate about retail, this is NOT the place for you!

Pros

Customer service, tools for creating customer loyalty, employees and customer relations. Great discount and bonus structure. Great tools for product training.

Cons

Upper management act unavailable and only judge you based on their visits. Perception is the only thing that drives your future. You are not allowed to be yourself, constantly compared to other managers. The longer managers have been there, the less open they are to new ideas. Constant behind your back talking. Your direct supervisor is the only person that you can really learn from and relate to. People stay for years and no movement, therefore, promotions are rare. Development is based on your own hands, so you never know when you are doing well or bad, until you get your review. Never enough time given to finish everything. Constant communication even on your days off. Favoritism is very apparent.

Pros

The discount, if you can afford to use it!

Cons

I average 3-4 hours per week, something I wish would have been discussed BEFORE they hired me. Management team is catty and they spent all of my first day advising me about "not stealing", "don't sell my discounted items on Ebay", "not to wear too much make-up", instead of teaching me about my benefits and pay:( Futhermore, what discounted item can I buy with $26.50 per week? So far, I have still not been paid since they have messed up my payroll and this is the 3rd payroll that has passed. Obvious biases against employees of color and customers as well. As a longtime Coach customer, I am appalled at what I have witnessed which makes me not want to spend any future dollars with the company. Furthermore, why hire someone for a mere 3-4 hours a week? There is obviously no respect for my time and 5 managers who have no idea of what the other managers are doing or have done.
