      A company becoming too big to be able to innovate

      Pros

      Great employee benefits; global presence; strong eco-system and brand name

      Cons

      CEO has been lost around 2006-2007 (that caused CDO Charlie left the company); a lot of politics and fat; doesn't have any succession plan; can't retain talents (seems CEO and board don't even care); no innovation but still think things will turn around. It's sad to see this will become another DEC or Sun Microsystems.

      Cisco is not a great place to work if you are ambitious

      Pros

      If you want to lead a peaceful life with no tensions then cisco is the place for you. I think cisco is a great place for married people as married people need to stike a balance between their married and professional lives.

      Cons

      The downsides are unlimited. Cisco's talent retention policy is pathetic and they dont give adequate recognition to the talent they have. infact in one of the interviews i've heard chambers say that they dont like to hire the best. Cisco is a place for a mediocres. Cisco is the number 1 networking company in the world but from the salaries perspective they are at the 60th percentile.
