Pros

It's a given that you'll meet some very smart people at a company like Cisco. What surprises and delights you is meeting and then getting to work closely with the very funny ones who somehow slipped through HR vetting. They bring soul and character and fun to what could otherwise be the beige-est place on earth. They are the basis for all camaraderie at Cisco.

Cons

Unrealistic project schedules are alive and well at Cisco. So are fiefdoms and power grabs. So is a congenital inability to staff projects appropriately.

Pros

Good place to start your career and to gain corporate experience. Benefits are slightly above average if you land the right position and the environment is extremely flexible when it comes to working hours.

Cons

It is an extremely political environment and individual contributors get their careers affected when they don't follow the game, sometimes without even realizing it. Executive leadership has developed this huge EGO that makes it practically impossible for the employee's feedback to be taken into consideration and make effective changes.
