It was a good experience working for Cisco. The peers are good, yet management has many layers and way too many VPs.

Pros

Technology for routers and switches are still the best, John Chambers is a great salesman and a good leader in terms of taking care of the customers. The growth for the early years was great.

Cons

Cisco bought quite a few consumer lines that did not really bring in considerable revenues. There are way too many VPs, directors, and managers in the company and their contribution should be cross examined and evaluated.

too large, slow moving, hard to get everyone on the same page, dont know what others are doing, not everyone is motivated

Pros

You'll enjoy workplace flexibility, team work, competitiveness, good salaries, travel, diversity and a great high tech learning environment. Besides you'll make a lot of good friends. Cisco people are one of the best I used to love the culture which is based on the "Human Network" human communication and cooperation, at least in my team :)

Cons

You'll have less time for your personal life. Workers become workaholics. We used to work extra hours and during weekends. It gets stressful around month ends and year ends, we used to stay up until 12 am to closed deals working from home, but I used to like the competitiveness spirit during these times.
