Pros

I came back to Cisco after 11 years. It's great to have on your resume and I'm always very proud to say I work there. They truly believe in a balanced life.

Cons

Hiring Pause...sometimes they lose really GREAT employees because they cannot convert a contractor to a regular employee. While contributing as a contractor, your ideas aren't as widely embraced due to your status.

Pros

Cisco pays very well, has a terrific benefits package, and provides some very nice perqs. The campus us pleasant, the cafeterias are excellent, and the facilities (gyms, etc) are top-flight.

Cons

Middle management, at least in my division, is very insecure, leading to political battles. Goals were kept intentionally nebulous by an indecisive VP, leaving the directors to fight for resources for their pet projects. Cisco top management likes to run on real metrics against measurable goals, but since goals were unclear, metrics became meaningless. Goals and metrics were fudged, so the VP could direct attention and resources to pet projects and employees.
