Pros

I enjoy working at Capital One because of the culture and values. The culture is progressive, inclusive where open and honest conversations are encouraged. The support in my role and development are also key. The values -- Excellence and Do the right thing are not only spoken but embedded.

Cons

Downsides include the busy work schedules. Capital One is growing, not only from a products perspective, but also organizationally. Work schedules are hetic and sometimes overwhelming. But, as stated above, there is flexibility from a work/life balance persepctive.

Pros

Nice transitional job; Low stress level; Good benefits and perks compared to other retail jobs; Training increased to one week before placement in branch; Opportunity to move up is present

Cons

Unclear career path; Unable to be cross-trained easily Bonus structure could use work but is nice for someone not in need of support through incentives

Pros

Capital one has a wonderful incentive program for both relationship bankers and tellers. Hours are flexible and Management usually will accommodate your needs. Capital One encourages promotions from within. Benefits are OK. Your co-workers become like family due to the Team environment that Capital One encourages.

Cons

Capital One has unrealistic goals for the personal bankers. The management team suffers undue stress due to the unrealistic goals. They never seem to hire enough staff to accommodate the needs of the branch. The secret shops are unfair to both the bankers and tellers. The whole "GAIN" approach required to be used with clients inhibits the banker from properly relating to the client. They like to put you on documented warnings when you don't follow the "GAIN" script. When complaints are made against management they are often dismissed and then the employee that complained winds up being "managed out" by the manager!
