      Great Company

      Pros

      I have worked as a Branch Manager and a Small Business Banker with Capital One. The leadership team at this bank is great. They support you and genuinely care about your career goals and growth. You have banking hours so work life balance is also hard to beat. Compensation is fair and great employees.

      Cons

      Their computer systems are convoluted and way outdated. Be ready to re-key info.....a lot. Depending on your career path opportunities may be limited if you do not live int the VA or NY areas.

      Great analyst community

      Pros

      I worked for Capital One as an analyst for several years, coming in straight from college. The Analyst Development Program was a great way to make a transition to the "real world," get a lot of training and support, and meet many people throughout the company. I felt like my managers cared about my development and provided great opportunities to succeed. On a broader level, Capital One has a very collaborative culture. Work/life balance was prized and easily obtained. Pay and benefits were very good, especially for the Richmond area. It is easy to switch teams if your current position is a bad fit, and that flexibility is supported by management.

      Cons

      Bureaucracy is a necessary evil, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. People are smart, but this can also result in overly complex systems and processes. There always seemed to be constant re-orgs that seemed disruptive and may or may not have actually achieved business objectives.

      Great benefits, forward thinking, great people!

      Cons

      Can get hectic at times. Disconnect between Data Analysts and Business Analysts, but this is likely not just an issue at Capital One. Slowed down by big company sludge. It's often hard to get something done, and it won't be quickly. Made worse since we are in the banking industry.
