Pros

I cannot think of anything. Perhaps CEO's vision is great. Benefits are great.

Cons

I experienced the worst ever leadership and management here in Canada Tech. The culture in capital one US is far better. Leadership here has no clue how to handle situations. They keep passing on problems. Worst decision making ever. They run a generic job description for recruitment and place people in any position that is open irrespective of matching skills. People are continuously leaving. Recruitment standards are pretty low. Make sure you discuss the role, responsibilities and your matching technology skill set before joining. They lure you with higher salary than market. Even if you have joined recently, fail fast, leave and find something better. Do not ruin your career here, not worth it. If you keep dragging on it would be too late. There are far better things to do elsewhere than working at Capital One Canada Tech. Capital one Canada is just a bunch of people relying on what US gives them to work on. No place for innovation. They are harping on one single innovation that happened from Canada for very long time . Too many org changes too often leaving you gasping and play catch up game. They claim to be an Agile house but they are nowhere near. The circumstances will make you unlearn a lot, ruining your hard earned knowledge and practical experience. There is no scope to apply agile practices. Serious Warning: Managers, Developers if you want to learn and grow and make a career, join a real tech company with good business model. If you join Capital One Canada, one day you will repent and say, if only I had taken right decision not to join this place.

Pros

- CapitalOne US is great, Canada - not really! - $$$. Clueless Hiring Managers + Recruiters end up offering most salaries (as long as we're in line with the higher US salaries!) at around 80 p - that is 30% above market. If you get an offer as an experienced hire, go high and they will likely give it to you because they dont know what theyre doing. Youll need it too, because unless youre willing to join the long human centipede of people s**king each other off, you wont really get promoted and will quickly fall behind - Young workforce: can be a fun environment, One word of warning: everyone is sleeping with everyone else at this place. - Great place to get your feet wet for a year and a half and bounce, because unless you're part of the special club, you are unlikely to advance at the company.

Cons

- Shady HR practices: this HR department is incomparable. I have always had great disdain for HR people - but the group here takes the cake. Recruitment is the worst, but then it continues on through to Leadership, who are typically doing nothing more than spewing sound bites from articles they read on Linkedin about the latest "trend" - all without any actual knowledge behind any of what they're saying - Lord of the Flies culture: someone doesnt like you or perceives you as a threat? Get ready to be manipulated and lied about behind your back so that the backstabber can get ahead - Delegate delegate delegate. The minions sitting at the top keep distributing work down to the ones underneath, and they all work mindlessly towards arbitrary goals that go nowhere - because there is really no accountability save for when people are souping up their performance assessments for promotion calibration - the best blow(out) gets the biggest promotion! - In a nutshell - pretty toxic a workplace. Do yourself a favor and go to a real tech firm

Pros

Company pays well and the range is broad for the role. Perks are good and comparable with market.

Cons

Zero work life balance Leadership with C level is awesome, but middle level management is really where the trouble is. Directors and VPs strive for show casing with innovation but none cares about building matured products. My push for building quality reusable frameworks was never respected. Agile framework are being used inappropriately for projects that has fixed requirements. The employees are relatively young and spoiled middle management is costing young and talented generation coached bad practices for short wins hence loosing long term visions.
