Pros

Salaries and benefits are very good.

Cons

This is a place you want to love and enjoy working but middle management makes it very hard. There is a lot of talk about development opportunities but that is only true for friends of directors. The company doesn't value experience, it values new grads and new people so turnover is high and you end up with people with a couple of years into their working lives at the same level as very experienced people. Its hard to know who works there from one day to the next. Each part of the business is run by somebody on the leadership team, they believe their business area is their own fiefdom and every area has a very different culture, so the experience as an employee is wildly different depending on where you work. The middle "director" level fear making decisions, don't appear to trust the people in their teams, and every decision gets escalated right to the top, so if you're far down the pecking order it is very hard to get any work done. There is little psycholgical safety because senior people recruit their friends. The performance management system is used as a stick.

Pros

- ok comp - decent work life balance - some very good managers (director level managers) - organisatinal willigness to learn and improve according to employee feedback

Cons

- value of high calibre experienced hires is currently not yet understood by organisation and people are not fitted in correctly into roles where they can make the best impact -a lot of the strategy roles; are effectively BI roles with a small business dimension, it is not really suitable for experienced hires, especially if 60-80% of the work will be SQL coding - people with 4-6 consulting experience (coming evening from a manager level role) end up being on the same level as a grad after 1 year internal experience - it creates a very odd dynamic and tells one that the value proposition is not understood if you can be manager/ senior manager / director in other comparable organisations with that experience - most experienced people with strong profiles have realised that/ do realise it after a few weeks in - due to COVID we are trapped now, but fear not once the opportunity is given people will move on to the right options - although good progression was promised and obvisouly oversold at recruiting stage will need to be validated, currently not particularly convinced by it - overall it is not a disaster but looking at the other options I had back then as a strong hire I am regretting it a bit, will most likely jump asap once COVID impact fades away
