Pros

There is a good atmosphere and Capgemini generally employs staff who are focused on good delivery and mutual support. Everyone makes a valid contribution and promotion is based on your capability rather than some of the more negative means of climbing up the ladder. It is a fair employer in terms of diversity.

Cons

It is probably an industry norm, but the hours are long and it often means working weekends. Over the past few years there has been a distinct reduction of investment in activities that boost moral and team spirit and that in turn is changing the atmosphere within the company

Pros

Most people you work with are bright and motivated.

Cons

It's an uphill battle to get on a good project as a new employee, to get managers to trust you. You have to sell yourself internally every day, and it's nerve-wracking to have to interview internally and externally for each engagement AFTER you've already gone through several rounds of interviews to gain employment by Capgemini. Also, the management doesn't seem to care if you are not challenged or happy on your project. You're billing if you're on a project, and that's the only thing that matters. It's nearly impossible to switch projects if you are unhappy or if it s a poor fit, even after many months.

Pros

You will get exposure to fortune 500 clients. You will be working with clients that are usually at the top of the organization chart. Typical assignments require that you find solutions to very complex problems. You will have to opportunity to travel and see several major cities in the US.

Cons

The constant travel will wear you down. The review and promotion process is somewhat unfair as typically the managers responsible for your reviews and promotions are not the same managers that are on site with you on your day to day projects. This makes it difficult to represent you in their 'round table' discussions consultants are ranked against each other. These rankings form the basis for promotions and for division of the fixed pie of bonus and merit increase dollars.
