Pros

Large range of services. Brand Recognition. Provides exposure to a number of different asset classes and markets. The sheer size of the company provides some opportunity for movement, but only if you are interested in brokerage. Overall, a decent place to work.

Cons

Little communication between different service lines. Brokers runs this place. Benefits are expensive to the employee. The 401k has a terrible match and limited choices. They do not pay for licenses that they require nor any other education. There are definitely a lot of inefficiencies with the way support staff are organized - a number of duplicate positions and wasted time and money.

Pros

It is the largest commercial real estate company in the world, so if you are interested in real estate as a career, it is a great place to learn the industry. In general, the people who work for the company are knowledgeable in commercial real estate and there are lots of opportunities to learn other facets of the real estate world.

Cons

It is a very large, public corporation, and as such, change happens VERY slowly. Also, public image and share holder opinions are often more important than what is best for the employees. If you are a broker, you are infallible, but employees are often treated as replaceable commodities. Not enough time is put into recruitment and education of employees verses brokers.

Pros

It's a huge company, so if you decide to move to another state, you may be able to do the same job in a different office. They'll sometimes pay for software training classes if you ask. Since there are so many employees, you're bound to make friends (which is definitely a bonus if you're new to an area). There are employee morale events happening all the time -- bagels/muffins/donuts in honor of birthdays and anniversaries each month, support staff day, an awards banquet (you win cash with most of the awards!), a fancy holiday party, bank holidays are off at CB (MLK Day, President's Day, etc.), the day before a long weekend the office usually closes two hours early.

Cons

It's a very formal work environment. If you're not a broker, you don't get much respect. Sales assistants work their tails off for meager inflation-adjustment wage increases and little thanks. It's a very structured place with a lot of rules, hierarchy, etc. The whole environment is intimidating. There's high turnover among the support staff. They have holiday decorating competitions, but only allow politically correct/watered-down decorations. And they hold their "holiday party" in January so they don't have to call it a Christmas party. Very P.C.
