Pros

Nothing good about this company

Cons

- Worst management: Even IPR manager " A naturalized China Singaporean" said "China Team dont the need to learn English and they don't need to". Top management who dont speak Chinese also said "I will look out when there's a chance, as this is purely China culture" - The manager let non-chinese speaking members "indirectly" report to China team, even when the China team speak English badly. - All training documents are in Chinese language, with inaccurate/ vauge meaning auto translation. - People who dont speak Chinese are discriminated. Lunch and casual meetings are carried out in Mandarin/Chinese despite lots of non-chinese speaking members. - You have to suck up to China team if you want internal insights, or progression. - Processes super unclear, all require flattering China people to move forwards - China team made bad decisions then put the blame on lower level when issues arrised, and China team held no responsible for solutions. - If you don't speak Chinese, joining this horrible workplace is just to clear the mess and take all the blame.

Pros

Beautifully themed offices in the heart of Singapore's Central Business District. On the surface, ByteDance looks like a dream organization with beautiful work spaces. Not sure if this is a pro but you can wear whatever you want, fashion is a big thing and even Top management often comes in basketball jerseys which can make them seem more approachable. Great organization values (if followed) Trial and Error approach gives employees many opportunities to pad their resume and experience (sadly this is being exploited by almost everyone - bleeding costs) Very competitive salaries and benefits (on the surface)

Cons

Top Management has no experience in leading a team (amateurs). I will explain: Pick and choose data to justify personal feelings (good or bad) instead of objectively looking at what is best for the business. Horrendous Hypocrisy, absolute Dictatorship, Gaslighting, and an unhealthy love for suck-ups. People who disagree with clear mistakes (yes, we know when a mistake is about to be made) will be the first ones to get fired regardless of employment status (probation/contract/perm) under the guise of cost cutting etc. - but you will see the same job posts pop back up after some time. Time is only taken into consideration when it comes to them but is negligible for others working under them. Ridiculous amount of time taken to formulate a Strategy (2-3 mths) and provide 1 month to complete execution + expect results (which won't yield much difference...). Then decide to formulate a new Strategy (another 2-3 mths) and start firing + hiring, rinse and repeat. When deciding on Strategy, instead of listening to their own staff they hired who have the experience and relevant knowledge of the organization's business, they incur more costs by hiring external consultants who has no relevant knowledge of the products and customer voices but because they are either personal friends or self-proclaimed "experts" using/quoting generic internet material. Regarding "their way or the highway", be very cautious of joining because their way (self-preservation) will lead to you getting cut, or failing which will also lead to you getting cut (Top management will always be safe and have a job - transfer back to China or somewhere else to ruin). Oh, and HR? HR exists to protect themselves and Top management. There's more but you get the gist...

Pros

Good snacks, hip trendy company.

Cons

I don't want this to come across as insensitive, but management based in China was out of touch with American culture. For my time there, there was a disregard for American colleagues' perspectives. And salary was pretty lousy. Also, there were very few professional growth opportunities.
