Pros

-The most recent change moving Roel Vestjens into the President & CEO role was the best move Belden could have made. -In response to the COVID-19 environment, most companies went into furlough and layoff mode to save money; however, at Belden, the President/CEO & the Board of Directors took a significant cut in pay through December 2020 & the Senior Leadership team also took a significant cut in pay through December 2020. This move by the Board & Senior Leadership team was very impressive, in my opinion. While there have been SG&A cuts, those cuts were initiated before the COVID-19 crisis. -Belden also seems to be trying to obtain the right talent to continue to grow and become the best in what we do!

Cons

-The systems are very outdated and difficult to obtain data but there are contacts there that can help you maneuver through the systems to get what you need. -Before the new CEO stepped in, change seemed to happen at a much slower pace than I think it should have. People need to be held accountable and need to know that if they don't meet expectations, they will be replaced. I am excited to have the new CEO in place and look forward to how he will address these opportunities. Having met him, I think he will move on these needs much more quickly.

Resistance to change hinders potential for growth

Pros

I have young and energetic colleagues who fit my age group so I blend well. Salary is good. HR tries to do team building activities.

Cons

People tend to stay long so there is no real room for career advancement. When someone above you leaves, instead of promoting a employee with the necessary skills, they hire from external sources to fill the vacant job. If you are happy with career stagnation and good pay, this is the job for you. They are using processes and software from old times with a if it isn't broken don't fix it mentality. Problem is time and technology is advancing and there is many room for improvement but unwilling to invest. All that matters is the quarterly reports so no significant investment into improvement will ever be made. When industry is forecasting a headwind, solution is reducing headcount.
