      Pros

      Somewhat stable, investing in technology (depending what division your in) and they did not take any UK bailout money.

      Cons

      British Bank... "I am BarCap hear me roar" !! Seriously, as an ex-Lehman employee, working at a British Bank kind of blows. All culture is driven out of the UK, and the Brit's , well...... I have also found the merger to be confusing and somewhat difficult to adjust to. I can see the inventive and creative personalities of the Lehman employees smashing up against the thier terse British counter parts. I think as the dust settles, it will eventually smooth out but not sure in who's favor it is headed. Lehman wa a great shop that made some foolish (Fuld) investments and now we all pay the price for the incompetance of a few.

      Pros

      You work with brightest people in the industry. There are opportunities to enhance your skillset not just related to your work but in other fields as well. Barclays has prop seminars that would rate as top of the line. Compensation is decent.

      Cons

      Career growth is very limited. There is no transparency in the promotion or appraisal process. The work culture is changing to "top down". Bureaucracy is on the increase.

      Pros

      The company has good and fair pay. Bonuses are ok, but not amazing. I really enjoyed the environment I worked in, I was supporting the trading floor and felt that I made a difference in the bottom line of which securities they were going to buy or sell.

      Cons

      The hours there are definitely long. Many times, I've taken the midnite car back, but it feels good every once in a while to remind yourself that what you do is pretty important, and during the end of the year, bonuses are fair. It really depends on how you feel the tradeoff of your personal life to your professional.
