Pros

Vast amount of activity going on to get involved in - if you have any time left in your day A good organisation to work in if you're in the early stages of your career - but don't pick up bad habits prevalent in the organisation e.g. meeting culture; lack of planning

Cons

Cost-driven organisation - takes priority over every decision - risk adverse Change is managed badly and most senior managers are poor leaders Work-life balance is poor - the organisation doesn't seem to know how to align resources with work demands Tools for the jobs provided are generally not fit for purpose e.g. laptops and telephones

Pros

Exposure to diverse industry sectors, the people I work with on a daily basis (mostly). Global Brand that seems to be respected

Cons

Redundancies everywhere, morale is rock bottom, an employer who is hell bent on sucking the life out of its employees and then dumping them on the scrapheap when they are of no more use to them , all in the name of profitability. Moving jobs abroad and overloading those who are left behind. Almost everyone i talk to is looking for a job somewhere else. political and divisive ( BT likes to manage out those who have fallen out of favour) . An internal network that is about as fast as a snail ( considering the type of company this is, this is embaressing). Opportunities for personal development on courses that have a currency in the wider job market have not been available for years. terrible work life balance, A company that makes a big deal about values and its employees commitment but does not reciprocate. BT expects its employees to give up so much of their personal life ( this should be the exception not the rule). Good at promoting people and increasing their stress and responsibility but not changing peoples packages to suit, then when that individual falls apart, demotes/gets rid of them. Bonus schemes are almost not worth the effort, to get an average bonus is hard enough. To get an exceptional one would require you having to work 24 hrs a day.
