Pros

I have worked for BT for 1 and a half years and in that time have found working in BT is a nice and comfortable enviroment to work in. Good training packages, nice staff attitudes, the willingness to help you develop and give to the room for improvement.

Cons

There are of course downsides to working for BT. You only have the scope to move upwards within your department and not to other departments, You have a limited work plan which you have to stick to and they have a tendency to make you work more than your allotted time frame as there is always things which take you over your scheduled finishing time. Not enough opportunities to become fully employed by BT as workers are mostly contractors looking to get into full time employment with the company.

Pros

Incompetence is tolerated so it is easy to look good. They probably will just about survive the recession so you won't be out of work.

Cons

Too many senior management initiatives that they believe really make a positive difference. It is becoming impossible to do anything interesting as you spend all your time tied up in filling in forms and complying with the latest idea that adds no value.

Pros

The pension is good if you got in on the final salary scheme and BT don't ditch it. Holiday entitlement is good. Support for professional development & training is very good. Being a large company provides plenty of opportunity to move between different projects and even different work areas. Good culture & supportive colleagues.

Cons

Inept, ineffective & frankly de-motivating performance management system. Pay is relatively low; this is causing recruitment issues whereby the only way to get new staff in my area is to pay top of the pay range when more experienced staff are on substantially less. BT recognise the pay system has problems but consistently refuses to do anything about it.
