Pros

bt is a good place to work, because its a very friendly atmosphere where everyone gets on together and works as a team. Theres always some one to talk to and its a very supportive place, with either work issues or personal issues. Since working at bt i have met lots of new people from all different kinds of backgrounds and made some brilliant friends there.

Cons

The downsides of working for bt is that things change all the time and sometimes we are not made aware of the new changes on our briefs or in meetings. The managers expect you just to automatically no evereything, and if you do make mistakes then you will be punished even thow you havent been informed of the new changes.

Pros

For most job roles, they actively support homeworking.

Cons

Proper management of promotions, pay rises and bonuses is totally disregarded and this leads to a feeling of having no control over your future no matter how much effort you make. Once you get the the mid point in a pay range then it is extremely difficult to get a pay rise at all. They seem to be fixated on cutting costs as a route to profitability, over and above generating increased revenue. This means that most areas are now seriously under resourced and this leads to unacceptably high levels of pressure.

Pros

BT is overall a good company to work for according to my experience. Great training opportunities if you are just starting your career but also if you are not. If you are very proactive and seek training opportunities that relate to your day to day job, very rarely you will be denied the opportunity. Another good reason to work for BT relates to job safety and long term opportunities. Unless you misbehave in terms of work conduct chances are that you will never be fired. If you are looking for a safe job, this is a good employer. On the other hand, being the company big and diverse, it also gives you opportunities to change jobs without having to move out of it. But you need to be very proactive in seeking opportunities.

Cons

It allows you to become complacent with your job. Though this make you feel comfortable and safe, it does damage your career prospect in the long run, especially if you were to be seek employment outside BT. Within the research dept the funding is getting smaller and smaller due to outside pressures. This causes higher and higher competition for promotion and usually creates unsatisfaction.
