Pros

Nice offices and real talented people

Cons

Senior leadership are so out of tune with employees, the company is going backwards. Says it's flexibile - it isn't. It's a really sterile company culture from the top with zero friendliness or honesty. Just say you want people to use the offices you invested in rather than coming up with a patronising slogan you expect people to buy into. It's embarrassing.

Pros

* A good private pension scheme

Cons

* BT is an old-fashioned company with a 10-level hierarchical managerial structure * BT employees are burnt-out and obsolete * BT is run by politicians, not by engineers * BT is not a technical company. Technology is the least important. It's all about giving an image to others. * BT is all about events without any brainpower to keep selling the political message and make a fake impression on others. * BT has a blame culture * BT has a toxic and static culture * BT is the opposite of a meritocracy * BT is a third class company * Many of the employees are silos * Talented people don't work at BT, and if there are any, they quit BT as soon as they realise where they are * BT runs a constant fake political campaign, repeating how talented BT employees are. It's all fake. The truth is that mediocrity has no limits in BT. * BT has the typical traits of a mafia, a clan, where the longer you stay, the more privileges you gain from the mafiosos. * Most managers protect among themselves as genuine mafiosos. They should be cleaning the river, but just because they are native English speakers (the UK is a very generous country) they work in an office. * Most managers are very ignorant, incompetent and some of them alcoholic. * Most managers type with two fingers like snails, making an appalling impression. * 99% of the managers are scared of technology, without any technical background or experience. However, they keep coordinating technical people with awful results year after year. * All managers make a big effort filling out their Outlook calendars to justify their job. 80% of those meetings are not necessary, but this type of culture is accepted as normal!! * Most BT offices/buildings are old and dirty * Most employees have lived for decades in their own little world called "BT". They don't know anything about life outside of BT. * The biggest aspiration of the most typical BT employee is early retirement * The lack of knowledge and competence at all levels make employees prisoners of the BT culture, which generates frustration on them. That's why there is a high number of mean, miserable and resentful people in BT in comparison to other companies. If you are an engineer and after all these clues you keep thinking that BT is a great place to work, then ask yourself these two questions: Am I alive or dead?, Am I a politician?.

Pros

A few people who work there are nice

Cons

Absolutely everything else. I would be very hard pressed to think of a company worse to work for that BT. They will sell you a dream and provide a nightmare. Everything is based on lies. If you read only one review PLEASE listen to me. DO NOT WORK FOR BT!!!!! Seriously. Out of two teams and a total of 32 people who started after 12 months only 14 remained. Its absolutely horrendous.
