      Not the same bank since BBVA took over and that is not good!

      Pros

      Direct managers cared and backed you up if you were right Coworkers helpful and worked well together Vacation time was plentiful even for the lower grades

      Cons

      Change controls and procedures often bypassed based on political pull within the organization. Project managers do not plan projects very well. Key issues discovered during execution phase and not during planning. Core upgrade not going as well as press releases claim. Bank has layoffs about every October and chooses to lay off those with long years and not those who underperform. bank technology follows no strict standard

      Pros

      Banking applications software knowledge. Experience about IBM mainframes and its related products. Java like languages for client applications. PLI for host side applications. Cool Gen for desktop applications.

      Cons

      There are no accurate development plan but a lot of upper level pressure to deploy products. It is ok to deploy with some bugs. It is a corporate culture to deploy products without full test. Instead, collecting but reports from customers and fixing bugs are acceptable. This kind of working environment is very boring and it is very possible to be selected as responsible of all failure as a developer.

      -Depending on regional manager, good support -Internal leads and referrals provided -Licensed bankers are part of your sales team

      Cons

      -Low pay for the industry -Archaic systems that are down far too often -Lack of accountability in middle management -Lack of motivation across the board -Company doesn't like to adapt to new ideas
