Spanish Parent Bank (BBVA) embroiled in the European Crisis, what could go wrong?
Pros
They are investing in technology, to upgrade the systems that the old Compass Bank had thought was brilliant for 20 years.
Cons
The bank has not invested nor developed a strong, collaborative culture. As a result, the culture (treatment of employees, teamwork, comraderie) are at unacceptable levels. In addition: -Excessive times for loan approvals/declines across the board, (i.e. Retail and Commercial) -Lack of ownership or responsibility within the bank -Outdated policies (i.e. Holds on Cashier's checks) that make the Mega-banks of the world look reasonable. -Lack of any career opportunities (anyone want to move to Birmingham to get ahead? Anyone?) -High Goals/Low Pay. Salary levels are generally below market conditions. -Lack of quality systems and branches in good locations and support people.
