Great Company, but Layoff Process Could Be More Thoughtful
Pros
Great products and talented people – Autodesk has some of the best tools in the industry and a team of highly skilled professionals. Good severance package – The financial support was helpful during the transition. Valuable experience – I enjoyed my time at the company and appreciated the opportunities for growth and learning.
Cons
Abrupt and impersonal layoff process – Access to most systems was revoked immediately after the call, leaving no chance to say goodbye or transition work properly. Questionable selection process – High-performing employees were let go, while others who resist change and contribute little remained, likely due to internal connections. Impact on frontline workers – Many essential contributors were affected, while middle management, which often focuses more on oversight than meaningful work, was largely untouched.
