Environment Deteriorating Fast

Pros

The products are still amazing. They can change the way customers will design the world. Many of the people are very bright, hard working and committed.

Cons

1. The political environment has deteriorated significantly in the last two years. There used to be an earnest, collaborative environment with a real desire to do the right thing for customers. Now, many leaders are applying their efforts to jockeying for position or resources rather than leading or managing. Productivity has ground to a halt, resources are demoralized and actively looking for the exit. 2. Promotions decisions are not transparent. While officially, it is all about "What" and "How", the real variable is "Who" you know and "Where" you are located. It is impossible to advance outside San Francisco due to a belief that only resources in SF can be leaders. It is hard to connect this to the visible commitment to diversity. 3. The leadership claims that we want to be a "customer" company. However, actions show the real objectives - satisfying Wall Street. 4. With the new CEO came new organization with mandates of bringing Autodesk to the future. However, the leaders for these organizations have all been around for over 10 years and have no experience in the identified objectives.

Pros

Flexibility & work life balance. Office environment great & money spent on having the most cutting edge technology, whilst making hundreds redundant each year. The talented staff that keep the company afloat are treated terribly.

Cons

No development or training, no promotion opportunities. No trust whatsoever in management,. They pay chunks of staff money to leave quietly rather than make a legal claim! Unethical place to work. Claims to be one of the top places to work, amazing when they continually get rid of talented staff.

Pros

Not terrible hours, some very smart people, free snacks and coffee, occasionally have some cool events like design night that engages the public.

Cons

Lots of bureaucracy to get anything done. Lot of politics between groups. Company reorganizes more often than a teenager reorganizes her wardrobe. Terrible PTO policy.
