Pros

Talented people - good place for graduates to learn new skills from industry experts. Attention is placed on employee engagement and provided the business is profitable, there is training provided - both on the job & externally. There are opportunities to work on great projects and for travel within Australia and globally. The company is well managed, determined to keep its services relevant in a changing marketplace and generally, fair and equitable to staff.

Cons

After working in one section of Aurecon for a number of years, it is increasingly hard to transfer into another section to gain different experience. I would also warn against working for any consultant for too long (5-10+ years) as it may be difficult to find work in industry if labelled as a 'consultant'. Like all Australian engineering consultants, Aurecon has not been immune to retrenchments over the past 3 years in order to maintain adequate returns to its private shareholders. Aurecon struggles when it comes to gender diversity but this somewhat symptomatic of the few women studying engineering.

Pros

Good access to a pool of talent including various disciplines. Good office facilities, building, location. The company has free access to most of the required standards relevant to the industry.

Cons

Business development functions are under developed. This resulted in lower than required projects and forward workload of which the flow-on effects are employee retrenchment. Profit margins are kept too high which resulted in losing out to competition on several projects. Career progression limited.
