Pros

Some people where great. Built friendships with a few key people that wanted to help and understood what it was to be human and not just a mindless working robot.

Cons

Most people (read management) are toxic in the company. Senior management was not at all transparent, they do not care about their employees. The company has too many senior management and not enough ground workers who do the physical work. Retrenchments are a real thing and they would rather cut 10 junior workers to keep the senior personnel lining their pockets. Salaries where woeful at best, bonuses and increases where non existed unless you where high enough up. The past 4 years salaries have freezed with living expenses going up monthly. Open plan offices are a horrible place to try and work seeing that you have no way to zone out and not be interrupted constantly by passers by / management just dumping more and more work on you expecting miracles. They also expect you to work their hours and not the hours they pay you for. I.E your working hours will be from say 7am to 4pm, and management will simply state that they work 6am to 6pm and they expect the same from you. If you disagree they will inform you that you do not have commitment towards the company goal and you can forget about any growth or promotion within the company from there on end.

Pros

Some genuinely good people with great technical skills trying to deliver value and do the right thing.

Cons

Where to start. By design Aurecon is structured like multiple cottage industries where each unit manager does their own thing. Strategic enterprise initiatives are not adhered to which means projects are done in multiple ways, potentially even for the same client. Dependent upon my project leader a project will be structured in different ways. Rev Rec week is a disaster when the business becomes very internally focused and the key client becomes other Aurecon units! The unit managers are driven by their P&L which means narcissism is rife and rewarded. The people who designed this system are being asked to fix it; the old boy network is alive and well. If you don't belong to the right clique then this place is soft on performance and tough on people, the power based, directive culture has worsened in the last 12 months. There are currently 5 CFO’s in the business and for all the spin from the new CEO nothing has really improved in our day to day world. In summary a horrible place to work, with little career development, you walk around with a target on your back and where power based, narcissistic, machiavellian politics is rewarded.

Pros

Supportive work environment with a solid development program for young professionals.

Cons

Often conflicting management styles make it difficult for projects to advance on time.
