Pros

There are good engineers especially in product and test development. They really know how to bring products to market. Work time is very flexible and work at home is possible. Their benefits package is equal to or better than most equivalent companies.

Cons

If you are an offsite location, i.e., not in Norwood or Wilmington, MA, your career advancement is very limited. Most of the engineers I've seen work for 5, 6, 7 years without any promotion. If you are not connected or have some face time with senior management, you are anonymous, just another cog in the wheel. It also helps if you have some analog expertise. That's why the company is called Analog Devices.

Pros

The people are the best, very bright and good to work with. There are lots of exciting and different technologies being worked on at Analog, analog ICs, Mems, and digital ICs, which in total go into 1000s of products. This means there are plenty of opportunities for interesting and challenging work within Analog. The 401K program is excellent as well.

Cons

The biggest issue with working at Analog is that it is still an old-fashioned company. There are no real perks that exist in other companies like tolerance for tele-commuting, day-care, office gym, or free dinners for working late. All stuff that could make employees lives easier and woud help improve morale.

Pros

huge amount of information and knowledge available. Weekly seminars and daily discussions help you learning and broaden your area of competence. Form this point of you analog is great. It's pretty tough to get in as a designer. You get screened from the senior designer to the fellows. People here is always available to help you out with everything from the simulation environment to technical problems that you might have in your design. Very challenging place to work in, but once you are in, unless they close your design center as it is happening right now, you are pretty safe.

Cons

Forget about short term careers. No matter how good you are the older guy goes always ahead
