      Laid back environment Time to work on personal projects Very flexible work time, including work from home Sometimes free food

      Pay is not competitive Priorities for the company are not made clear; direction is uncertain Because of the laid back environment, many employees do the minimum required to get by

      A wondeful engineering environment ....

      1. Projects are research oriented 2. Excellent work life balance 3. Flat technical hierarchy 4. Very friendly group of people 5. People induldge in extra cirricular during lunch -- running, biking, swimming, ultimate frisbee, yoga etc. 6. 401k is execellent 7. Good professional advancement 8. No hard deadlines

      Cons

      1. You need to be self motivated and show lots of initiation. Projects don't come to you - u need to make them happen. 2. Health coverage is shrinking every year 3. Pay has been frozen for 2 years now ---- some frustated engineers bcos of that. 4. Upper management doesnt have clear goals for the company --- CEO regurgitates what he said 5. years ago in quarterly updates. 6. Dont see much career advancement 7. Feel isolated from silicon valley dynamics 8. Worst IMMIGRATION department. If you need to apply for green card they have a very slow and incompetant legal department. I've finished 3 years and still not started the process.

      Pros

      Flexible hours made it worth the low wages and the lack of feedback from senior management. Long hours too were hard. Unclear at beginning that this is how things would be.

      Cons

      Hours were much longer than I initially was told during interview. Sr. Management was not there for anything but criticism
