Pros

- Co-workers are extremely talented. The people you work with have an amazing knowledge and talent, and many of them really want to innovate. Good place to develop initial talent and then move on. - Severance package if you get laid off is decent

Cons

- Focus is on revenue. This drives management to push for low margin commodity type products instead of high-margin cutting edge products. - Base salary was OK, but lack of RSU's and other reasonable methods of compensation meant overall pay was lacking. - Service to customers did not exist if they were not a major player. Lower volume customers left to centralized support that was not as capable. Doing this meant customers that grew into higher volume sales felt left hanging when they were starting out. - Layoffs are far too regular and difficult to predict where or who they might target. Good people with a solid track record could be laid off because they were put in a bad spot. M&A activity just accelerated this. - Employees treated as an expense on the P&L, not an investment. Experienced people that were paid higher were often focus of layoffs or limited on raises/RSUs/bonuses to focus on lower level employees. Employees expected to be loyal to ADI, but not reciprocated by management. - M&A of other companies fails to find best parts of those companies and integrate it and instead force the 'ADI way' onto what was a more streamlined and profitable system. - Acronyms. EVERYTHING HAS AN ACRONYM. Just be willing to say the few words! - Decisions made by consensus of committee rather than empowering people to take responsibility and make things happen.

Not good for a career

Pros

Good for a first job if you are just out of school or are an Intern and want something for about a year or two to kill time until finding something better.

Cons

Management is completely out of touch and morale remains low especially at the old LTC Milpitas location in California. They continue to layoff people whom they needed to keep due to their ignorance and then find out the hard way, but only after it's too late. Your success is mostly determined by your visibility because if you quietly do excellent technical work you are a real layoff target. Certain managers will intentionally keep your visibility down when you have skills and they use those skills to advance their own status thus insuring your status always remains the same until you are eventually targeted for eventual layoff. Favoritism and abuse also run a muck in certain groups and is swept under the rug by HR despite employee complaints. Employees quietly complain to each other, but are afraid to raise concerns for fear of retribution which almost always happens if and when someone does.
