Pros

Organization is build for long term success where core leadership principles, backed by incentive structure nurture a great work culture for learning and innovation. Very strong focus on end customer and continuously raising the bar. Lot of investment in employees to prepare them for the work rigor.

Cons

Pace or work is very intense. Not only would you need to work long hours (initial years) but each of those hour needs far more concentration and productivity than at most other organizations. Amazon encourages and demands very strong writing skills, even senior people write 6 page narratives. Every sentence needs to be very carefully though through, should be backed by thorough analysis, and metrics. If writing and reading does not come naturally to you or if you have grown out of those habits then making your mark at Amazon will be a struggle.

Hiring Process

Pros

The Amazon hiring process is exceptionally well-managed and straightforward. Expectations are clearly defined, and the recruiting team is very helpful in providing candidates with suggestions and materials for how to prepare for interviews.

Cons

The hiring process did include a significant time commitment for multiple interviews and assessments. I can understand why many people would view this as a significant downside, especially if the process did not result in an offer letter.
