Pros

Stock price continues to go up, you'll learn how to operate a global service, you work with talented people. AWS generally genuinely care about the customer experience and improving things over time while also adding more and more capabilties. Culture is good in some ways, such as very clear about what it takes to perform at the next level. Huge company and you can transfer to another team as long as you're not being managed for performance.

Cons

Employee hostile in many small ways, including how the comp is confusingly structured, limited and going down. Rotating door of talent and teams. Experience is team dependent: if you have a rough ops load or a bad manager you'll have a hard time. Culture is bad in some ways such as throwing all the next level stuff out the window if you don't fit the curve of ratings. Just don't be the slowest deer and the wolves will leave you alone...for now! Internal tools are poor and you'll likely have to learn tons of non-transferrable skills.

Pros

- Talented individuals, from engineering to business development leaders - Comparatively high pay

Cons

- Launch checklists for Infrastructure and Platform-as-a-Service the same as Software-as-a-Service, making it impossible to test product concepts with customers and incorporate feedback - Opaque decision making with 80%+ leaders not believing in revenue generation by product, but not voicing for constructive and inclusive strategy discussion

Pros

- I still cite and use the Amazon Values today having left many months ago - approvals.amazon, com is an amazing, emotion-free tool to escalate cross team conflits and priority issues that other companies address through politics and stress and emotion

Cons

- Weak support from HR and Recruiting - lots of rotating, over-worked hiring and management partners, making hiring - The 2 new values are not observed at all in any way, - L5 centralized hiring funnel is stupid and results in mad scramble from hiring managers to claim candidates that might not be interested in their domain - Chime sucks, glad they got rid of it
