Everyone is a leader

Pros

Everyone is treated as a leader in Amazon. There are so many opportunities to innovate and experiment. I don't do things here because someone has told me to do so. I do things because I believe they are the right things. I am expected to set my goals and also establish my value. I haven't found any other company where you get so much of feedback.

Cons

It can be very daunting in the beginning. Since the culture is so peculiar here. It takes time to settle in this culture, especially when you come with the baggage of experience. There is a lot of unlearning required in order to succeed here. Culture assimilation cannot be taught as it is a journey of experience that everyone goes through.

Best company to work

Pros

- Employee friendly policies ( 'Putting employees first' is what I could observe from most of Amazon's policies) - Challenging Environment ( Strong peer group & great leadership) - World class Benefits - Innovation driven - Complete Autonomy on your assignments - Very flexible (WFH, flexible work hours) - Lateral movements within the company (Move anywhere and do what you like to do)

Cons

- If you are an outsider, check your job levels before joining. Amazon tries to bring you down one level. - You will take time settle down if you are an outsider (lot of peculiar aspects of amazon culture)

Pros

A lot to learn, money is good, and Seattle is a beautiful place to live.

Cons

Work life balance. If you have children this is not a company for you. An example of the child-like culture is they have a "bring your parents to work day". My family was having medical issues and management wouldn't budge on working with me and my schedule. In fact, they pushed me harder for deliverables despite the fact I had issues at home that were obviously a priority. Ultimately you will be made to feel you should choose between family and the job. I also found that due to the culture mindset a lot of other companies do not like or shy away from hiring people from Amazon. So while Amazon might seem sexy short term, long term, maybe not so much.
