Pros

- Really smart people to work with - Interview process was very transparent and the recruiters are empowered to connect you to the right teams - The onboarding process is very well organized - Document heavy culture, so its not just hear-and-say - Compensation has been revised so much more competitive now - A lot of long timers, which is a good thing - You learn the ins and outs of a business function. You are not isolated in your domain only. - Relatively easy to change teams

Cons

- Benefits could be better - Paid time off is low as compared to the industry - Very large org, so comes with its own overhead

Pros

the leadership principles are definitely the best thing in Amazon's culture and they can be applied in difficult practical scenarios to make the right decisions.

Cons

It's a very grueling place for Engineering managers. The number of administrative tasks have increased multi-fold in the recent years, the HR or leadership only cares about engineers. Nobody cares about work-life balance of managers. Also, the expectation from managers are to retain and promote engineers and do admin work. So, managers do all sorts of things to somehow promote their team members as their own performance depends on that. Terrible place for a manager, particularly anyone who wants to contribute towards product and tech strategy. No wonder the bar for engineering managers is going down every day
