Pros

- Young fun coworkers - Free snacks and drinks in office

Cons

Please do not believe any of the positive reviews. AlphaSights is truly a terrible place to work. First off, the work is absolutely miserable and borderline unethical. All you do is harass professionals all day through LinkedIn, email, calls, and texts for them to take a 1 hour call with your client, where a lot of the time they're looking for nearly confidential info. You are pushed and rewarded to disrespect experts' time, confidentiality boundaries and compensation; it's so incredibly unprofessional and would not be tolerated at any respectable workplace. You learn zero hard skills - all you do is search LinkedIn, send template emails, cold call experts, and write vague profiles on their experience for the client. This job is basically sales and recruiting but worse. If that doesn't sound bad enough, you are micromanaged by a manager that is 2 years older than you and has zero experience outside of AS. You'll be forced to talk about your mundane tasks 3 times a day and announce anytime you'll be off the desk for 5 minutes. The managers will always ask for your feedback and say that it's a "feedback-oriented culture" but will also put you down for any negative feedback you give. Also, the compensation and performance metrics are so incredibly unfair. It's all reliant on the types of projects you get, experts you have to work with, and level of engagement from the client. You'll be reprimanded on a weekly basis about your performance, even though the vast majority of it is out of your control.

At AlphaSights, we hire ambitious professionals who want to own results, build a track record of achievement, and accelerate their careers. We accept that we are not a place for everyone. Since our founding, the expert-network industry has grown from $300m in 2008 to $2.1bn in 2023, or ~14% CAGR over 15 years. Over the same period, AlphaSights has grown at 5x industry growth or >70% CAGR. Across 500,000+ projects, we have established ourselves as the go-to partner for 2000+ of the world's leading investment firms, consultancies, and Fortune 500s. Our success is underpinned by the caliber of our colleagues, the quality of their work, and their commitment to delivering superior client service. For five consecutive years, our team members have nominated us as a Great Place to Work, recognizing our commitment to fostering individual career growth and creating a platform that allows our colleagues to achieve something bigger than themselves. Fundamentally, we exist to deliver success to our clients, and to power career advancement for our people. Our track record shows that when we deliver along these dimensions, company success follows. - The AlphaSights Team

It gets better

Pros

- Life long friendships formed via trauma bonding - You'll develop a healthy disrespect for toxic "positivity"

Cons

There's nothing to say that's not already been said in other reviews, other than to emphasize that AlphaSights's 3.5 rating is only as high as it is because of the tremendous amount of spam 5-starring and outright lying that its leadership does on this site. Have you noticed how all the 1 star reviews are 2000 word essays, and all the positive reviews are "Great place to kick start your career! You'll work hard, but golly gee, will it be worth it!1!" To the prospective applicants thinking of working here: Simply, don't. Unless you are facing homelessness, you have better options. Live in your parent's basement for a while, teach yourself to code, enjoy your life and wait for the job market to improve. This is a place that will give you new mental illnesses, and leave you with nothing in the way of transferrable skills, personal dignity, or faith in your fellow man. It's a mindless sweatshop that doesn't even have the decency to admit it. To the people currently working at AlphaSights, hate-scrolling Glassdoor reviews for a sense of solidarity and confirmation that you're not crazy, you are the real reason I took the time to write this review: It gets better. That first day you wake up without the panic of clients texting you overnight, of outrageous, impossible expectations for how quickly you can find people who happen to know lots about whatever random project has been thrown at you, of mortgaging your mental health and your soul to try to hit a hurdle that, best case, just resets itself again next month. That first day is bliss, and life just keeps improving from there. Save up money, network on the weekends, or just up and quit. As scary as it seems to leave your first job (and let's be honest, the only reason AlphaSights gets away with what it does is because it's everyone's first job) there are worse things than being unemployed for a bit. And one of those things is, undoubtably, working at AlphaSights. There has not been a single person I have ever know who's doing worse after leaving, or wishes they stayed longer. If you've been looking for a sign to escape, this is it. Whatever that other option is, I promise it's better.

Useless Job

Pros

Really nice peers. Get to party a lot and have fun

Cons

- No real skill set acquired. You do useless and most pointless research on 'people' within various industries and you try to reach out them. You are one of those useless people who just finds people with a particular set of skills. In short, the business model consists of work which is not challenging at all, instead, it is futile at best. Apart from partners, most of the employees come from third and fourth tier schools in the UK or the US. In short, capability and competency of employees is questionable.
