Pros

Work with very smart people and somewhat interesting work. Not too much on personal growth.

Cons

Please tell HR to stop writing positive responses on glassdoor - it is sorta obvious that they are mostly written by the same group of people as the positive responses are organized in the same manner with very similar words.

Pros

Smart, personable people working with you in the day to day. Will have fun socializing and bonding with colleagues in your level, mostly over mutual dislike of the job

Cons

Middle management in San Francisco office is quintessential ex sorority girl/ ex frat bro culture. Passive aggressive, self important, and above all else, non-genuine. The list of cons goes on and on- horrible work life balance, constantly expected to be on call, hiring smart and ambitious people to be a private equity analyst's whipping girl for two years. Prepare yourself for monotonous work, working for clients who cannot be bothered to remember your name 50% of the time, reporting to a boss who doesn't care about anything other than how your performance affects their bonus. But they'll pretend they do. And somehow, that's worse.

Pros

In spite of the CEO sending an unbelievably immature company-wide email calling his own employees "cowards" for writing negative reviews on Glassdoor, I'm proud to see that many have finally taken the step to speak out against the toxic company culture and write honest and FAIR assessments for prospective employees.

Cons

Every constructive criticism I thought of has already been voiced by fellow employees. So I'd like to take a different take and use AlphaSights' own marketing materials to point out just how phony this company is. As of this writing, there is a picture on this Glassdoor page that shows a group of employees smiling, pointing, and even laughing voraciously at a whiteboard with a puzzling two dimensional graph. The x-axis is labelled "time" and the y-axis "$". There is a straight line with a slope of what appears to be exactly 1 that ascends into the upper-right hand corner. The area under this line is labelled "SYNERGY." What the heck? How is it that all these supposedly happy employees are so excited and bemused by this absolutely meaningless graph? Is there some sort of hidden meaning that only the brightest and best are able to discern? What does it mean? That $ will increase with time? That SYNERGY will increase $? Either AlphaSights has just cracked a brilliantly novel business strategy (and made it public to the world) or this photo, like many things shown to prospective AS recruits, was staged. I could go on, but I'm sure you'll find something to question soon enough. Words to anyone considering AlphaSights: think carefully. Very carefully.
