Pros

It was decent pay for what the job actually entailed.

Cons

- When you first start off, they give you old leads that have already been called and expect you to make 5 sales each week. - They force you to pressure customers, plain and simple. They told me I was “too empathetic” for understanding why customers couldn’t purchase the product. - I have several medical conditions, causing me to need a bit more time off as I am bedbound some days. As a telemarketing company, my presence is not essential to the office and they will survive without me. However, management made me feel awful for beings sick even though 1. I was never asking for sick leave pay and 2. I always gave notice and even told one of the managers personal reasons why I was so sick. The lack of understanding seemed harsh. - Then, they do call training where they listen to your calls and tell you where to improve, but even if you improve in those areas they put you down and bring it up over and over as your “weaknesses”. - Management really essentially forced me into the mindset that I was going to fail in this job after a few weeks by saying “maybe consider that this job isn’t for you” “maybe try looking for different jobs” by bringing up aforementioned “weaknesses” et cetera, and this all happened even before they actively worked with me to help me get my feet in this position. They only offered to help me after making me cry during this meeting, as they probably expected me to resign on the spot but I didn’t. This harmful and degrading management style did however lead me to resign the following day. - They go through employees really really quickly. Out of the 8 people in my training group, only 3 people stayed (probably less by now) and it had only been a few weeks since starting. The rest quit or got fired due to issues with management or just plain hating how draining the stress of this job is. - In summation, unsupportive environment for new staff unless they like you. If you’re not incredible at making sales immediately then they treat you like second class employees, don’t acknowledge you or try to help you until they consider it too late.
