Pros

The people are great, because we're all in the same boat. We all hate our jobs, so there's plenty of people to sympathize with.

Cons

Not organized. No one ever knew what they were doing, and there was no one to turn to when you needed clear direction.

Pros

Smart people and good vacation time (24 days) because it is a European-owned company

Cons

The COO of the group, as well as my direct manager, sent me an offer letter for 1 position, and 2 days after my arrival, I was told my title was different than the job I had applied to and accepted. My manager treated me like his secretary for the next 6 months, giving me unchallenging and yelling at me for mundane things. He had never managed anyone before, and it showed. I stayed long, long hours on Friday nights to launch products. I was doing work I could have done w/ 2 years' experience, even though I had 7. I spoke to several people about all these concerns, but no one listened. The entire company had a different dress code than our department did, so we had to wear suits every day. Awfully corporate and stingy. Also, layoffs were common and continue to be so.

Pros

-many company events such as offsite team building and outings (which spend employees a lot of time, and employees have to go back to office for work after the events, until 1-3am. Your bosses forced me to participate in many events you didn't want to) -snack corner -good examination reimbursements -most employees are helpful -less office politics

Cons

-Worst company I have worked for -Bad company culture -Bossy (you have to leave after boss, he'll say one thing and do another) -Work like a dog until 10pm-3am, monkey work -employees are knowledgeable in term of insurance, but they know nothing outside the field -not fun hanging out with colleagues -Many negative moods and complaints around the office -People don't trust others, and they spend a lot of time checking others' works -poor software support -could never save my work due to lack of hard-drive space, interns are disc burner and we kept more than 100 CDs to keep previous work in each department (interns didn't learn much except how to burn a disc) -sexist jokes around office as there are too many guys -"blue culture" that the company promotes never exists -kind of immoral to work in insurance company as the fund fee and commissions are super high
