Pros

Vacation time is nice, if you have a manager that leaves you alone on vacation.

Cons

Reorganizations gallore. I have worked for AXA for 8 years. We've had 3 name changes and am now going on my 9th reorg. Upper management does not understand life insurance. (Our full name is AXA Equitable Life Insurance Company). We have limited products and most of our captive sales force does not even sell our product. What does that tell you. Reviews are a joke. We have a 1-5 scale. No one is allowed above a 4. I was just told that the scale has been shrunk again. I guess it will be no one is allowed above a 3, which is "satisfactory" according to HR. 2 is unsatisfactory and a 1 I guess is failing. I'm done working my butt off for the company and am actively searching for a job. Oh, so are most of the people in my department -- we are all fed up. The ones who aren't are waiting for retirement.

Pros

Good employee support with an understanding for personal needs and a good remuneration structure. The group as a whole was focussed on some key long term initiatives but their was often a disconnect between this and the Key Result Areas we were measured on.

Cons

Lack of non-financial recognition for consistent and excellent results. A strong silo culture within certain areas and others that lacked a commercial veiwpoint. Also the inability for management to explain the disconnect listed above. A talent pool with pro-active conversations to dicuss and position opportunities through the group would be beneficial to retaining and exposing employees to the greater group.
