A turn for the worse

Pros

AT&T had a great reputation as a "life long" employer, and some of my colleagues have had a single job. They once had stellar job security. This might seem like a boomer-era opinion, but for people who are not fully career driven (especially past age 40) this was a haven.

Cons

CEO seems to have just learned the term "market-based" in the last 2 years and is now applying it to everything, including the work force. In essence, everyone is being replaced, with large management structures moving to offshore. Don't expect to earn tenure here. You'll be churned in a few years for cheaper labor in an Eastern European country or India.

Not a good firm for remote or even hybrid workers

Pros

Good pay, benefits, roth 401k, good teammates

Cons

Horrible RTO. Zero chill on being connected in the office for less than 8 hours. Caught up to NVW (virtual workers) to convert them to NFTO (full-time office) employees. Even exceptions like the ones outside the hub locations and too far to commute are given a 30-day notice to relocate or be terminated.
